WILD AND FREE FOREVER LEGACY SOCIETY

The Corolla Wild Horse Fund invites you to join our new Legacy Society, Wild and Free Forever. Through this society, we honor the spirit of philanthropy that has nurtured and sustained our organization since its inception. We welcome generous and forward-thinking donors who want to support the long-term success of the Fund through a planned gift, and greatly value those who have pledged to in years past. There are several creative and flexible ways to get involved. Whether you’ll consider naming us in your will, donating land for Banker habitat, or making a qualified charitable distribution, there is a place in the legacy society for you.

PLANNED GIVING OPTIONS

Bequest from Your Will or Leave a Trust

Including the Corolla Wild Horse Fund in your will or trust is a meaningful way to help us continue our work to protect, conserve, and manage Corolla’s wild and rescued Banker horses. Our organization has benefited from individuals who had the foresight to include the Corolla Wild Horse Fund in their estate plans.

Annual Gift Planning

Assets from annuities or 401K plans are some of the most beneficial gifts for the Fund. These resources grow tax-free until the time of withdrawal. With the innovative use of these assets, you may be able to contribute generously to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund as well as provide for your loved ones. Many taxes on these plans may be avoided or reduced through a carefully planned charitable gift. Please consult your tax advisor.

Life Insurance

Life insurance is often overlooked as an asset that can be used to make gifts to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund. We will gratefully accept this form of gift.

Donate Land

The Corolla Wild Horse Fund currently has 40 acres in a permanent conservation easement, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bender. If we are to provide a safe-haven for the future, much more land is needed to sustain the herd. The fair market value of land donated to a nonprofit is typically tax deductible for the donor. Help us maintain important habitat for the horses and all wildlife through a gift of property.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

A qualified charitable distribution gives donors of 70 ½ years and over the opportunity to gift the Bankers and our mission up to $108,000 - up to $216,000 for spouses filing jointly - from your IRA(s) without the contribution being taxable. QCDs can be made as one large contribution or several smaller contributions spread throughout the calendar year. Please consult with your tax advisor as state rules for QCDs may vary.
